Using Plone for Creating Portals
Presented by Paul Trapani of XT Group (http://www.xtny.net...)

A web-based portal is a great way to share knowledge in a business or organization.

Plone makes a great choice as a portal solution for the following reasons:

-quick deployment for intranet portals
-can be scaled up as needs grow
-can publish to the Internet if the need arises
-software cost savings over proprietary solutions like Sharepoint
-allows building solutions using an agile development strategy
-because Plone is object based, it's easy to include documents or other attachments to your content
-very intuitive for non-technical users to use
-easy to make custom content types
-built in support for accessibility
-lots of pre-existing solutions out there

This presentation will discuss basic concepts and strategies in portal creation. There will be a demonstration a portal project hat was recently created using Plone.

I've mentioned before that I'm too far east to make it to NYC by meeting time, but I'm interested in the meetings and would love to be able to read a summary, any presentation slides, etc. Is this at all a possibility?
